Daily Labor
STATEMENT
This work is a nine-day performance.
Each day, a black folding screen shaped like the White Cliffs of Dover—considered a symbol of homecoming in the U.K.—is gradually painted white by lifting chalk stones with the body. At the same time, the body is also gradually covered in chalk powder; however, when it rains, all of it is washed away. Each day, the performer emerges from the forest beside the screen, labors there, and returns to the forest.
