STATEMENT

本作は、武蔵野美術大学と朝鮮大学校の学生による合同展示の中で行われた、対話を基盤としたインスタレーションである。

「私たちはなぜ作品をつくるのか」という問いを起点に、来場者や参加者同士がディスカッションを行い、それぞれの制作動機や関心について考え、言葉にする場を設けた。対話の後、参加者は自身の考えを紙に書き、箱に投函する。このプロセスを通して集められた言葉や記録は、個々の内面にある動機や関係性を可視化すると同時に、他者とのやり取りの中で生成される思考の痕跡として蓄積されていく。

本作は、結論を導くことを目的とせず、異なる背景を持つ他者との対話を通して、「なぜつくるのか」という問いがどのように立ち上がり、共有されうるのかを探る試みである。

This work is an installation based on dialogue, developed within a collaborative exhibition between students of Musashino Art University and Korea University.

Starting from the question, “Why do we make art?”, the work creates a space in which participants and visitors engage in discussions, reflecting on and articulating their own motivations and interests in artistic practice. Following the discussion, participants are invited to write down their thoughts on paper and place them in a box. Through this process, the collected words and records not only make visible individual motivations and relationships, but also accumulate as traces of thought emerging through interaction with others.

Rather than seeking a conclusion, the work attempts to explore how the question of “why we create” arises and can be shared through dialogue among individuals from diverse backgrounds.
