STATEMENT

本作は、個々の経験がナショナルなナラティブへと編成される構造と、その編成の過程自体が新たなナラティブを生み出し続けるあり方を、批判的に捉えるものである。同時に、「耳鳴り」という現象における反復を手がかりに、そのような語りの生成と循環のあり方を扱うインスタレーションである。

耳鳴りは、音源の有無にかかわらず反復され、持続し、ときに増幅される。その音は、外部に由来するものとしても、内部で生成されたものとしても捉えることができ、その判別は常に揺らいでいる。 同様に、個々人の経験や語りもまた、反復され、共有され、言語化されることで、より大きな物語へと組み込まれていく。その過程において、ナラティブは単に集積されるのではなく、特定の枠組みによって編成され、ナショナルな物語として立ち上がる。 しかし、そのように編成された物語もまた、反復されるたびに微細に変化し、新たな語りを生み出し続ける。耳鳴りのように、それは消えることなく持続しながら、異なるかたちで現れ続ける。

この反復と増幅の構造を通して、感覚と物語、個と集団のあいだに生じる揺らぎと、そのなかで主体がどのように形成され、また文脈のなかで作用していくのかを試行する。

This work critically examines the structure in which individual experiences are shaped into national narratives, and how this very process continues to produce new narratives. At the same time, it takes the repetition found in the phenomenon of tinnitus as a point of departure, and explores how narratives are generated and circulate.

Tinnitus repeats, persists, and at times intensifies, regardless of whether there is an actual sound source. The sound can be understood as coming from outside the body or as being generated internally, and the distinction between the two remains unstable. In a similar way, individual experiences and stories are repeated, shared, and articulated, and in this process become incorporated into larger narratives. These narratives are not simply accumulated, but are organized within certain frameworks and come to appear as national narratives. However, such narratives also change slightly each time they are repeated, continuing to produce new ones. Like tinnitus, they do not disappear, but persist and reappear in different forms.

Through this structure of repetition and amplification, the work experiments with how the self is formed within the shifting space between sensation and narrative, between the individual and the collective, and how it operates within a given context.
